THE FILM

FOREVER WILD tells the story of a tenacious community that unites to save the open land surrounding their town from a disingenuous developer. The film is a stirring call to action for residents to lead the fight to protect our precious natural endowments.

FOREVER WILD chronicles an environmental and democratic triumph. A billionaire developer plotted to turn 600 acres of pristine valley floor into a mammoth lake and golf resort by manipulating the politicians and press of Telluride, Colorado. Nothing stood in his way until a small group of citizens united the residents, rallied the community, and fought for the land.

FOREVER WILD has screened at prestigious film festivals across the globe. In late 2020, the film will reach audiences across the US on PBS and globally through online video-on-demand platforms. But first, we are sharing our story with communities across the country and collaborating with partners committed to supporting environmental preservation.

THE MESSAGE

The Trump Administration has rolled back over 80 environmental regulations, including defunding the national park system, weakening protections for many endangered species, and opening millions of acres of public lands to drilling, development, and commerce. Forever Wild is a story that empowers communities to take action against these attacks on our environment.

FOREVER WILD is already catalyzing change. After viewing the film, members of the environmental advocacy group Keep Sedona Beautiful were inspired and took action. Following a five month fight, the out-of-town developers admitted defeat and withdrew their request for a zoning change.

In an era when many levels of government are weakening environmental protections on every front, local communities must take the lead. FOREVER WILD shows that ordinary people, standing together, can create real change.

JOIN US

FOREVER WILD is already making a difference. After a screening in Sedona, AZ, members of the environmental advocacy group Keep Sedona Beautiful were inspired and took action. They successfully helped block a massive development that would have permanently altered the natural gateway to their town.

Through our strategic approach to distribution and community engagement, FOREVER WILD will reach a national audience dedicated to preserving our environment. Our goal is to inspire community activists, policy makers, and the general public to take action.

Here’s how we’ll do it:

• Red carpet film festival screenings to build awareness
• Partnerships with influencers in the areas of land preservation and community activism
• Screenings & discussions at top universities and libraries
• Policymaker Engagement Campaign in DC and legislatures across the country
• Educational & discussion materials to facilitate important conversations
• National Television Broadcast on PBS reaching millions of viewers
• Digital release on iTunes, Amazon, and Netflix

THE FILMMAKERS

FOREVER WILD was directed and produced by a team of creative activists dedicated to promoting environmental preservation and inspiring communities to take action.

The FOREVER WILD team includes Oscar winning cinematographer Jim Hurst, who was part of the Free Solo documentary. Emmy winning editor Christopher Johnson, with his work appearing on The Discovery Channel, Netflix, NBC, and the Sundance Channel. Director Bryan Reinhart’s producing credits on Hoosiers led him to work on Raising Arizona with the Coen Brothers and is now teaching others filmmaking in Sedona. Ron Melmon, executive producer, a filmmaker since the late 60s and businessperson with a finger on the pulse of environmental and democracy issues facing our world today.

In addition to filmmakers, these committed creatives see themselves as environmental activists with the mission of enacting global change using their combined talents.

FOREVER WILD has screened at festivals worldwide and will broadcast nationally on PBS and other outlets like Netflix, Amazon, and iTunes later this year.
